Masala Box in Gladstone

Masala box is an authentic and dedicated Indian food restaurant, but the limited menu and Spartan decor means it isn't for everybody. If you are already a fan of Indian food then this place will not disappoint. There is very limited dining space, but there's a lot of different beers in the beer case :-) The owner is an enthusiastic chef with a background in bioengineering. Some may find the owner's personality to be a bit forward, however I found him to be entertaining and informative, and over all, passionate about providing healthy food in the community.

Fantastic! The BAL was amazing and the size of the channa masala was shocking! Sweet service and they even rushed to get it ready because we were hungry but running late!

We did take out here recently. Overall it was pretty good, just a little pricey. The flavors were good. I was left to question if the Naan bread was made in house or store bought.

Excellent food, and very generous portions. Instead of the pint of gravy with a few pieces of meat like some places give you, you get a takeout container full of food, no fillers.

Several months ago a friend recommended this small, non-descript Indian restaurant when I mentioned a craving from samosas. We ate in then, ordering Shrimp Vindaloo, Samosas, Naan, Mango Lassi and Madras Coffee. The owner was charming and explained that the drinks were not traditional, but tailored for the local palate. We enjoyed both food and drinks, taking home some Vindaloo, since the portion was very generous. It's now a go-to when I need samosas.

This was the best hole-in-the-wall dining experience I've ever had! The owner was super friendly, the food was fantastic, interior was clean and the giant beer fridge next to my table was super convenient! The address spray painted on the front of the building let me know without a doubt...I had arrived! :-)
